MISS SARAH JONES, LRAD AISTD Dip CDE
PRINCIPAL
HEAD OF BALLET, MODERN & TAP

Sarah has been teaching since 1995 and has run the South West School of Dance since taking the school over in 1998.

She trained at the Royal Academy of Dance for 3 years, having secured one of the few places on their world class teacher training course. She graduated with the College Teaching Diploma and was also awarded a Licentiateship of the Royal Academy of Dance. Alongside her dance training and teacher training, she studied choreography, anatomy, child psychology and history of dance.

Sarah is a fully registered and qualified teacher of the RAD and ISTD and also a qualified aerobics teacher. She has also recently qualified as an iD Dance Contemporary teacher.

 
MISS SARAH NEALE, BA (Hons) RAD RTS
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
HEAD OF MUSICAL THEATRE, CONTEMPORARY & FESTIVAL CHOREOGRAPHY
Sarah gained a First Class Honours degree in Dance from Bath Spa University in 2006. Since then Sarah has been teaching and lecturing in various settings in the South West and wrote the dance curriculum for Bristol Lower Grammar School. She completed her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance in 2010 and is a fully registered and qualified teacher of the RAD. She has also recently qualified as an iD Dance Contemporary teacher.

Sarah has worked professionally with Precarious Physical Theatre and Multimedia Company and Vex Dance Theatre on their national and international tours as well as with New Pantomime Productions.


MISS HARRIET DURSTON, DDE
MUSICAL THEATRE, MODERN, JAZZ & TAP

Harriet is a registered teacher with the ISTD and the IDTA. She studied at the Bristol College of Dancing gaining her ISTD DDI in Modern and Ballet and her DDE in Ballet.

Harriet has a wide background of performing, having taken part in many productions in the South West. Harriet is a freelance teacher and has been teaching our Musical Theatre classes since January 2012.  


MISS ANNA GIFFORD
STREET DANCE

Anna trained at the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts School before dancing professionally for 8 years. Anna's professional career began performing street dance in three of the UK's largest national hair shows, followed by the next several years dancing on cruise ships. Anna also had the opportunity to perform in Bollywood, dancing in films, music videos and India's version of Strictly Come Dancing. Anna had 14 years of teaching experience in many different genres of dance before joining The South West School of Dance in 2014.


MRS NICKY HANN
SPEECH & DRAMA

Nicky has a degree in Drama & Theatre Studies and worked in the television industry in London for five years. She has been teaching Speech & Drama at Wells Cathedral School since 2008 and joined our School in 2015. Nicky works with students individually to prepare them for Trinity exams in Speech & Drama and any auditions they may have in the pipeline.

MS KATHRYN STEVENS
VOCAL COACH

Kathryn studied Voice and Flute at Chetham's School of Music and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and since graduating has worked with many of the South West's leading theatre companies as Musical Director. She currently teaches at Bird College of Dance as well as being a freelance Musical Theatre and Vocal specialist.

Kathryn offers lessons on advancing vocal technique, repertoire building and LAMDA Musical Theatre exams. She also focuses on audition preparation for those students who require it.
